On Monday afternoon a Mechanical failure on a roller coaster at the amusement park "Great America" located in Santa Clara, California, left 24 people standed for hours on the ride, some as high as 80 feet off the ground. According to Augie Wiedemann, deputy fire chief of the city, the ride was ascending to the highest point of the ride, actually where it begins, and then it just stopped. Affortunatly no injuries were reported, the Invertigo ride stopped about 12:15 pm. (3:15 pm. ET) and passangers were stuck for at least three hours.

Firefighters were removing passangers from the ride's restraint system and lowering them into a basket at the top of a fire truck, the last passangers got off the ride by 5:45 pm. However, this was not the only incident happening during this month. On June 10th in Hot Springs, Ark.-A power outage left a dozen riders on an amusement park rolecoaster suspended upside down while firefighters and workers scramble to recue them. A fuse blew out at Magic Springs & Crystal Falls bringing several rides to a halt Saturday evening.

On the X-Coaster, 12 riders waited upside down at the highest point, 150 feet in the air, before they were returned safely to the ground. The X-Coaster's two cars were at the peak of a giant loop.The Hot Springs fire department used a ladder truck to rescue the riders, and spectators cheered when riders reached the ground. Authorities said that the rescue took about 30 minutes and emergency medical personnel examined all the roller-coaster riders after they came down.

Dan Aylward, Magic Springs president and general manager, said the theme park has experienced outages in the past, but usually they last only seconds. Entery Corp is investigating the cause of the outage near the park. Crews could find no faulty wiring. Now you know, there might be a slight chance that the adrenaline in roller coaster rides can last longer than couple seconds.
