Reading this weeks Scroll I saw a Letter to te Editor which grabbed my attention. It was talking about the Bookstore selections in the Political Science leaning to much to the the right for a "politically neutral" campus. I would like to say that is not true as I have seen many books in the Political Science section (one of the smallest in the bookestore) over the couple years I have been up at School, that are left leaning. The biggest example of this is Rahm Emanuels, President Obama's chief advisor, The Plan: Three Big Ideas for America. There have been others, and I know I also saw Obama's books in their as well, not to mention the center-left magazines like Time, Newsweek (who can forget the title of their cover article "we're all socialists now" in Feburary of this year), and U.S. News and World Report. Maybe the fact that this person was only able to find conservative publication like Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly is that these books are prominently displayed because the Bookstore knows what will sell in this predominantly Conservative school. For afterall when you own a business you push what will sell to the target audience. In this case thats conservatives.
