So let’s check it out and see what they have for us.   Students with a passion for filmmaking met for an hour Wednesday to discuss their great ideas and how to better the filmmaking process here on campus. One challenge they face is there is no program to study film.   “Some of the biggest challenges we are facing first specifically at first is that they don’t do filmmaking here, there’s a lot to do with broadcasting but they’re two very distinct fields I guess you could say, so actually finding the people that had the interest in film has been one of our primary challenges, “ said Shelton Dickerson, President of Filmmaking Club.   A short film called “The Incident” was already made by some of the current members of the group and they showcased it to the newer members so that they could see what can be accomplished through hard work. The movie received two standing ovations at the film festival.   “We want to help the people that are interested to like grow their talents and work with other people that have equipment who have talent and we want to help everyone to meet each other because there’s tons of student filmmakers here on campus just because people are interesting in film,” said Drew Nevitt, student at BYU-Idaho.   Sounds like a bunch of fun to me. I’m Derrick Fowles, I-News.

    • International Singer

    • ONE BYU IDAHO STUDENT FROM HONG KONG TAUGHT HIMSELF HOW TO SING AND IS NOW ENTERTAINING GROUPS OF STUDENTS WEEKLY IN A GROUP CALLED FROMT HEART. One afternoon Leo was heard by his roommate singing in the shower and was roped into singing on campus. It’s an unexplored talent for me. I am very amused when people think I am ok.   When I accomplish a performance or get a compliment I don’t really know how to accept it because I have a hard time believing it. Leo has never been trained to sing nor can he read music. He has a karaoke machine but in school he listens and remembers.   It’s amusing to professors here that I can guess really well. I look at it and try to not sing the first couple of notes, that way I can know where it starts, then just guess where it goes from there. I am a good guesser I guess!   Leo joined a Choir on campus that sings Sunday Evenings and also travel to perform. Leo is a huge contributor to this choir and is a wonderful soloist.   He just blows you away. An amazing voice he’s like a big bear that everyone can just hug. Very friendly and so complimentary of other people very humble.     Not only has Leo learned to sing here at BYU Idaho but he has also learned to express his testimony through song.   It’s a very nice feeling you can share your testimony and share you talent. I just forget that I am singing and forget that I am performing, but remember and always remember that I am testifying of something.
    • Madison county library

    • If you have drivin by the madison county library in the past few months, you have probably noticed the construction going on at the library. The library is adding a extention to it and adding an extra 16,000 sq ft with lots of new room for more books, computers and children reading programs in the summer. I asked what the need and the purpose was and this is what she had to say.  We are adveraging between 800 and 900 people a day in here, lots of days we have over a thousand and we just don't have room for that. We dont have room for the childrens reading time when we do our summer reading programs, it is just crammed, we do have space to do any of the activities. We have wanted a community room, so we are getting a community room that people can rent, and its hard to find a meeting place in this town, and we will have one, and its going to be lovely.  NOw i got to get a sneak peak through a window at the progress of the new addition and this is what it looks like, now just ot when it will be finished, this is what she said. we are a little behind but hopfully we will be in by the end of May, so that we can do our summer reading program in May, we will have a grand opening but that will be in September after we have the whole building done. Now as you can see it is getting close to being finished so get ready for the newly remodled library by the end of May, reporting ofr Inews, I am Andy Boot
