Well I’m here at the video production lab where students meet weekly to discuss filmmaking, a club that started with a small amount of people and has now grow to a bunch of film lovers here on campus. So let’s check it out and see what they have for us.

Students with a passion for filmmaking met for an hour Wednesday to discuss their great ideas and how to better the filmmaking process here on campus. One challenge they face is there is no program to study film.

“Some of the biggest challenges we are facing first specifically at first is that they don’t do filmmaking here, there’s a lot to do with broadcasting but they’re two very distinct fields I guess you could say, so actually finding the people that had the interest in film has been one of our primary challenges, “ said Shelton Dickerson, President of Filmmaking Club.

A short film called “The Incident” was already made by some of the current members of the group and they showcased it to the newer members so that they could see what can be accomplished through hard work. The movie received two standing ovations at the film festival.

“We want to help the people that are interested to like grow their talents and work with other people that have equipment who have talent and we want to help everyone to meet each other because there’s tons of student filmmakers here on campus just because people are interesting in film,” said Drew Nevitt, student at BYU-Idaho.

Sounds like a bunch of fun to me. I’m Derrick Fowles, I-News.

  • Actually, that was a different film. "The Incident" is a different movie we made, and the trailer and parts 1-3 can be seen on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQ6dNZ-U1T8). Pretty dope. I'm Gary in it. I'll sign your forehead if you want. Sincerely, Drew Nevitt
