“Swimming is the best part of my day; all of your stress just comes out in the water,” said Hawks swimmer Jadyn Hawk.
BYU-Idaho’s competitive swimming program consists of four teams with 15-20 swimmers. Each team has two coaches: Knights – Joe Free and Lindsay Fisher, Hawks – Sienna Prehodchencko and Jocelyn De La Rosa; Spartans – Danielle Harrison and Kelsey Parkinson and Titans – Jon Michela and Daryn Maughan.
“I swam all four years through high school and I just love swimming. When I got here I just looked [swimming] up and decided to do it. The season’s going well; our team’s small so we don’t get as many points as the other teams, but who cares about size,” said Hawks swimmer Jenny Turner.
The next meet will be Nov. 6 at the Hart Pool at 5:30 p.m. with the Titans versus Hawks. Preliminaries will follow on Nov. 13, at 5:30 p.m. The season will end with the championship meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Hart Pool Nov. 14.
The season began Sept. 16. BYU-Idaho competitive swimmers abide by USS rules which are similar to high school swimming rules.
