A night of rock at The Box

Local music venue The Box played host to three of Brigham Young University–Idaho's most talented artists and bands Friday, January 15th. The small concert hall in downtown Rexburg was jammed with excited students and fans that turned out to support the groups. Bands Out of My League, Scott Allen and The Climbing performed energy-packed sets that made the crowded room explode with life.

Rexburg-based band Out Of My League kicked off the night of music with four of their original jams. Front man Blaine Garner provided lead vocals and piano for the band's set. The show at The Box club was the group’s first time playing together with a new bassist and drummer. The group is currently working on an album entitled Cause and Effect, which as of yet has no release date.

Campus favorite Scott Allen followed Out Of My League with a more mellow acoustic rock set. The junior from Wichita Falls, Texas, performed a few songs from his upcoming album such as “Gift That's Mine to Give.” Scott just finished recording under One Palm Records in Texas. His new album, The Home Front, will be released in the upcoming months.

Closing the night was local duo The Climbing, with special guest Jack Parker on drums. Jason Call and Steven Biringer have been playing music for a while, but only recently together. The two met while on a tour with their respective bands, Daphne Loves Derby and Transition. Both decided to quit their bands and put their musical careers on hold to serve missions, which, luckily for BYU-I students, eventually led them to BYU–I and to form The Climbing. The pop-rock duo's first album Perspective drops March 5th.

The Box concert was an overall huge success, with a massive turnout and fantastic energy. All three groups delivered rocking tunes that drove the crowd wild. Out Of My League, Scott Allen and The Climbing are already huge around the BYU–I campus and will only get bigger if their shows continue to be anything like their performances at The Box Club.
